Aden Camera's 43" Convertible umbrella has a black backing and a silver interior for maximum output under a white translucent base. The translucent material smoothes out the specularity of the silver while it renders the output in neutral tones A handy aspect of this type of umbrella is the ability to bounce the light in the traditional way or remove the black backing and silver interior to "shoot through" the translucent material by aiming the convex side at the subject as you would a softbox.
